1. Agreement
Mapmate is provided by Marko Cranz, an independent developer based in Germany (“we”, “us”). By downloading or using Mapmate you agree to these Terms of Use and to Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the “Apple EULA”). If these terms and the Apple EULA conflict, these terms apply to the extent permitted by Apple’s rules. If you do not agree, please do not use Mapmate.
Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal data and is part of these terms.
2. The service
Mapmate shows an overview of the audience of a public Instagram account. Using publicly available data, it sorts followers and followed accounts into groups, notes who started or stopped following the account, and shows changes in follower count over time.
Mapmate depends on what the account makes public, so results have limits:
- Only public accounts that show their follower list can be mapped. Accounts with more than 10,000 followers are not supported at this time.
- Data is refreshed at most once every 8 hours. Changes appear after the next update, and tracking of changes begins on the day you add an account.
- Likes are counted on recent public posts. Accounts without posts are mapped without likes.
- The data source may return incomplete lists, so some people may temporarily appear in the wrong group or be missing.
Mapmate gives an informative overview. It does not guarantee that every result is complete, current or accurate.
3. Who can use Mapmate
You must be at least 16 years old to use Mapmate. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use Mapmate only with the permission of a parent or guardian, who is responsible for purchases made on your behalf.
4. Acceptable use
Mapmate is made for understanding the audience of your own account. You agree to:
- add only usernames of accounts you own or are authorized to manage;
- not use Mapmate or the information it shows to harass, stalk, intimidate, discriminate against or otherwise harm anyone;
- respect the privacy of the people in your audience and comply with the laws that apply to you, including data protection laws, when you use information about them;
- not attempt to circumvent the daily limit of new usernames or other technical limits, and not use bots, scripts or other automated means to access Mapmate;
- not copy, resell, scrape or redistribute data from Mapmate, and not reverse engineer, decompile or interfere with the app or our server, except where the law expressly allows it.
We may restrict or suspend access to Mapmate if we reasonably believe these rules have been broken.
5. Instagram and third-party data
Mapmate is an independent app. It is not affiliated with, endorsed or sponsored by Instagram or Meta Platforms, Inc. Instagram is a trademark of Meta Platforms, Inc.
Mapmate never asks for your Instagram password, never signs in to your account and never posts, likes, follows or messages anyone for you. Because Mapmate relies on publicly available data controlled by third parties, changes made by those third parties may limit or interrupt Mapmate’s features without notice.
6. Subscriptions and billing
You can find your account and see its public counts for free. Full access — everyone in each group, unfollows and new followers, the growth chart and story cards — requires a Mapmate Pro subscription.
- Plans. Mapmate Pro is offered as an auto-renewing weekly or yearly subscription. The price and the length of each period are shown in the app before you buy. Prices may vary by country and may include taxes.
- Payment. Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase.
- Automatic renewal. The subscription renews automatically for the same period and at the same price unless it is canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple Account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the current period ends.
- Cancellation. You can manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple Account settings: on your iPhone, open Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Mapmate. After cancellation you keep access until the end of the period you have paid for. Deleting the app does not cancel the subscription.
- Free trials. If a free trial is ever offered, its length is shown before you subscribe, and the subscription starts automatically at the end of the trial unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends. Any unused part of a trial is forfeited when you buy a subscription.
- Price changes. If the price of your subscription changes, Apple will inform you in advance and, where required, ask for your consent before the new price applies.
- Refunds. Purchases are processed by Apple. Refunds are handled by Apple under its own policies; you can request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. Any statutory rights you have as a consumer, including any right of withdrawal, are exercised through Apple.
- Restoring purchases. You can restore an active subscription on another iPhone signed in with the same Apple Account by tapping Restore purchases.
7. License and intellectual property
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use Mapmate on Apple devices that you own or control, as permitted by the Apple EULA and these terms. Mapmate, including its design, text, graphics and software, belongs to us or our licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. Except for this license, no rights are granted to you.
Story cards you create are yours to share. They show only your own information and never other people’s faces or usernames.
8. Availability and changes
We work to keep Mapmate available and useful, but we may need to change, suspend or discontinue features — for example for maintenance, for security, or because of changes by third parties or in the law. Where a change significantly affects a paid feature during your subscription period, we will let you know in good time. If we discontinue Mapmate entirely, we will give reasonable notice where possible.
We may update these terms from time to time. We will post the new version here and update the date above. For material changes we will inform you in the app or on this website. If you keep using Mapmate after the changes take effect, the updated terms apply.
9. Ending your use
You can stop using Mapmate at any time by deleting your data in Settings → Delete my data and deleting the app. Remember to cancel any subscription separately in your Apple Account settings. We may end or suspend your access if you seriously or repeatedly breach these terms.
10. Warranty
If you are a consumer, you have the statutory warranty rights that apply to digital products under the law of your country, and nothing in these terms limits them. Beyond those rights, Mapmate is provided as it is and as available, and we do not promise that it will be uninterrupted or free of errors, or that its results will be complete or accurate in every case.
11. Liability
We are liable without limitation for damage caused intentionally or through gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, under the German Product Liability Act (Produkthaftungsgesetz), and where we have given a guarantee.
For damage caused by slight negligence, we are liable only if we breach an essential contractual obligation — an obligation that makes proper performance of the contract possible in the first place and on which you may regularly rely. In that case our liability is limited to the damage that was foreseeable and typical for this kind of contract when it was concluded.
Otherwise, our liability for slight negligence is excluded. These limits also apply to the personal liability of anyone acting for us.
12. Apple
The following applies because Mapmate is distributed through Apple’s App Store:
- These terms are between you and us, not Apple. We, not Apple, are solely responsible for Mapmate and its content.
- Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for Mapmate. Please contact us for support.
- If Mapmate fails to conform to an applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price, if any. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation with respect to Mapmate.
- We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claims by you or a third party relating to Mapmate, including product liability claims, claims that it fails to meet legal or regulatory requirements, and claims under consumer protection, privacy or similar laws.
- If a third party claims that Mapmate or your use of it infringes their intellectual property rights, we, not Apple, are responsible for the investigation, defense, settlement and discharge of that claim.
- You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as a “terrorist supporting” country, and that you are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
13. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you are a consumer living in another country, you also keep the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of that country.
If you have a problem with Mapmate, please contact us first — most issues can be solved quickly by email. We are not obliged and not willing to take part in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board.
14. General
If any part of these terms is found invalid or unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it. You may not transfer your rights under these terms without our consent. These terms are written in English; translations, if any, are provided for convenience.
